Dott Cornwall was set up to bring together local communities and world-class designers to work on projects that improve how we live, work and play.
Dott stands for Designs of the Time. The project has demonstrated that great design can make a positive difference to our lives and create a more sustainable, inclusive society.
Over eighteen months, we applied creative thinking, developed innovative design solutions and made change happen.
Our projects looked at the things that really matter for people and breathed new life into deprived areas. We’ve helped to impove public transport options, worked towards co-designing a low carbon economy and helped to put Cornish produce in the local and global spotlight. Basically, we wanted to design a better future for the people of Cornwall. Take a look at our project pages to see how we've done this.
Dott’s work wasn’t about highbrow design concepts. We used design to bring solutions to everyone – from school children to the ageing population. We took on board all points of view and worked on issues from all angles. And we brought all sorts of people to the design table: talented designers, strategic thinkers, policy makers, experts and members of the general public. The result? Great designs and the delivery of exciting changes. We belive that this unique approach developed long-lasting, innovative solutions to a wide range of problems that have local, national and international significance.
Dott Cornwall was part of a programme of events developed by the Design Council, driving design-led solutions to economic and social challenges throughout the UK. The Design Council, Cornwall Council, University College Falmouth and Technology Strategy Board have partnered to deliver the Dott programme throughout Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly during 2010.
Dott was here to co-design solutions to everyday issues. Conntinue to unlock your creativity and design a better future.
